The Art After Dark program will transform White Bay Power Station on Friday evenings with music, art and outdoor food markets. Across three nights, the Inner West Council Music Series spotlights emerging voices from our own backyard, bringing the sounds, stories and diversity of our local music scene to Biennale’s global stage.

Sydney singer, rapper, songwriter and producer, BOY SODA (aka Brae Luafalealo) has firmly cemented his place as one of Australia’s most exciting new voices in soul and R&B. His music pushes the boundaries of genre and emotion, effortlessly blurring the lines between R&B, pop, classic soul and experimental groove.

BOY SODA won the 2025 ARIA Award for Best Soul/R&B release, and is fresh off the back of his Lil Obsession Tour, captivating audiences across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. His live shows, backed by a dynamic band, blend electrifying energy with intimacy, vulnerability and heart.

Those who have seen BOY SODA perform live just *might* be able to imagine how special this show is set to be. With his pure, rich harmonies, soul-stirring lyrics and full band behind him, BOY SODA is set to make the Boiler Room’s 40-metre ceiling soar.

About Aphrodite:


Before drum 'n' bass, before jungle, even before hardcore, DJ Aphrodite was doing his thing. While acid house was the name of the game, back in 1988, this man was already making musical moves. Establishing himself as a producer, and Aphrodite Recordings label owner, by the early nineties, he's been a mainstay of the UK rave scene ever since.


Those early releases (sometimes as Aladdin, sometimes as part of his Amazon II project) helped set the template for jungle music as it broke away from its hardcore foundations.


And that innovation was set to continue. As the mid-nineties came along, Aphrodite's use of stripped-back, high-energy bass and beats, combined with hip-hop and reggae samples, would make him one of the founding fathers of jump-up drum 'n' bass. Alongside his long-time sparring partner Micky Finn, Aphrodite planted the roots of a style which, years later, now dominates the landscape of DnB in the UK and beyond.


It's that collaboration with Micky Finn – in the early days as Urban Shakedown, later to coalesce into the Urban Takeover brand – which, for many, defines the sound of nineties rave music. Tunes like “Bad Ass”, “Some Justice”, and the guaranteed skank-out sounds of that Jungle Brothers remix, will always be classics.


So, given his influence on the whole DnB genre, no wonder that Aphrodite's deejay career continues to take him all over the globe. His multi-continental bookings diary, including some of the biggest festivals and clubs the scene has to offer, is, understandably, packed.


Hitting the three decade mark in the game, with two solo artist albums, a bag full of exclusive dubs, and a stupid amount of air miles to his name, DJ Aphrodite knows rave music inside out. As one of the godfathers of drum 'n' bass, he's more than capable of teaching the new generation a thing or two about how the legends do it.

Venda:
Australian based DJ, Producer & Engineer, Venda has spent years refining his sound, evolving his unique style to the stripped down approach he finds himself most comfortable with today. With a growing catalogue of releases in recent years on Modeight, Perceive, Mezin & hometown labels Unic & Mantra Collective, it’s no surprise Venda is being recognised as one of the most important artists in Australia’s underground scene.

FLUD aka Ewan Jensen of Red Ember Records:
With a recent move from Boorloo to Naarm, Ewan Jansen has brought with him, a once private world to life; as FLUD. It’s an amphibious, rhythmical 90-minute story of complex organic-electronic landscapes with a dynamic, progressing edge. Notorious as a bedroom House music producer and label operator of 25 years, FLUD distills a wide array of influences into a live-only experience. 

Lucca:
Lucca is an Argentine-born DJ and record collector, now based in Melbourne, shaped by years moving through underground scenes in Buenos Aires and Berlin. His roots trace back to post-punk, new wave and early electronic sounds from 80s and 90s, which still sit underneath everything he plays.

For this soiree, we welcome Eora’s Mikekon, a cornerstone of Sydney’s scene for over two decades. Mike is one third of legendary party House Your Soul, and founder of WIP music, a label and party built around “A Conversation Through Music”, this is to say, he’s a known party starter.

Opening up proceedings for the evening, Rah, resident of both Worldwide FM & Skylab Radio,  brings a wonderfully diverse crate of sounds deeply anchored in percussive dub, jazz and soul inflected rhythms. A serious selector and the perfect energy to carry us into the evening. 

And finally, closing things out is Miles Ahead, guiding us through the final stretch and easing us gently back down to earth.

There’s something about Collingwood basement that feels like a love letter to the underground. Low ceilings, close quarters, smoke machine pumping; a red light and a feeling. Nothing more than bodies moving together in the dark, yet something so much more. Earth Frequency is a music, arts, lifestyle and environment festival based in South-East Queensland, Australia. From humble beginnings as a small landcare party more than two decades ago, we have grown into Queensland’s longest-running electronic music festival and one of Australia’s leading cultural events.

Following the success of our 20th Anniversary Edition, Earth Frequency Festival is excited to return to the iconic cultural parklands of Woodfordia for our 21st edition from October 23-26, 2026.
Set in the lush foothills of the Moreton Bay region, just one hour north of Brisbane, Woodfordia offers a wonderful and comfortable festival experience with flat camping, easy access and permanent amenities, including glamping accommodation, hot and cold showers, clean toilets and even a general store.

At EFF2026, expect a rich and carefully curated mix of electronic and live music, performance, visionary art and installations, workshops and wellness, a dedicated family and kids space, quality food and markets, and a strong sense of community connection.

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, Tiptoes is a time-served DJ/Producer who has been in the game for over 15 years and has performed at a variety of venues worldwide. As a DJ, Tiptoes plays a bit of everything – from Jazz to Jungle thru Detroit, Disco, Techno, Garage, Broken Beat, Deep House and everything in between, always finding that balance between party rocking energy and tastemaking soul. As a producer, Tiptoes’ tracks encompass the best elements of the holy trinity – jazz, hip-hop and house. His sound has been described as “a crafted crate digger sound, dusty deep cuts full of feelgood disco energy, rhodes chords, bumpin grooves and classic rawness'.

KØDE Red returns on Saturday, May 9th at Kommunity Nightclub in Fortitude Valley. Music starts at 9pm and we are going all night until 3am.

Headlined by Australian/Italian techno DJ and producer, Michele Conte, and joined by Dark Mode, TekKa and the Fire, this is going to be some serious Techno from start to finish.

We are also adding a DJ competition to highlight the local Brisbane Techno scene and give an new DJ the opening set of the night. We will announce the winner before the night, this is going to be fun. Details for the DJ competition are on our KODE Red socials.

Expect a night of Minimal, Bush and Peak Time techno that will keep you dancing all the way to end of the night. If you've been to KØDE Red before, you know what to expect, red lights, heavy bass and good people losing themselves on the dancefloor. If you're new to KØDE Red, you're in a night you won't forget!

Platform and SoundCheck present GROUND, an immersive audiovisual performance by Nikita Zabelin, making its Sydney debut after its sold out show in Melbourne last year.

GROUND dissolves the boundaries of a traditional live show, blending modular synthesis, laser, and atmosphere into a meditative journey. Laser frames the space while layers of sound unfold in real time, creating a sense of controlled chaos that grounds the audience and guides them inward.

At the heart of the performance is the modular synthesizer. Through evolving tonal immersions and minimalist textures, Zabelin invites deep listening, where each sonic element resonates with intention and precision. The experience is both contemplative and transformative, shifting between intensity and stillness, chaos and clarity.

A leading figure in the music scene, Nikita Zabelin is an electronic musician, DJ, producer and educator whose career spans influential radio projects, music labels (Resonance Moscow, трип) festival appearances, and collaborations across the globe. Known for his forward thinking approach to sound, he has become a central voice in shaping new directions in electronic music.

GROUND has travelled from European art festivals such as Portugal’s LUZA and Berlin’s LOST to unique spaces including a bunker 43 metres underground. It has also been presented in collaboration with Greenpeace, reflecting its broader commitment to exploring the intersection of sound, community, science, and environmental awareness.

This is not just a concert but a living environment that draws the audience into a shared state of reflection and connection.

The Late Show
